According to ESPN's Field Yates, wide receiver Marquise Goodwin has reverted back to the San Francisco 49ers from the Philadelphia Eagles due to the terms of last year's trade. However, it is unlikely to stick. While the 49ers like the receiver, Yates states that he doesn't necessarily fit into the team's plans.

Update: The 49ers are losing their seventh-round pick in this year's draft as a result of this situation. Click here to read more on that.

On April 25, 2020, San Francisco traded Goodwin and a sixth-round selection in last year's draft to move up 20 spots in that round. The receiver ended up opting out of last season due to concerns surrounding COVID-19 and never played a snap for Philadelphia.

The Buffalo Bills made Goodwin a third-round selection out of Texas in 2013. He hauled in just 12 passes for 186 yards with a touchdown through nine games and six starts with the 49ers in 2019 before landing on injured reserve.

The 49ers can release Goodwin without a penalty.
