New San Francisco 49ers pass rusher Samson Ebukam, whom the team announced as a defensive end, is excited about joining his new team. He'll start the process of getting to know his new teammates. Ebukam was asked specifically about one of those teammates on Friday morning while speaking virtually with reporters. The defender was reminded about a sack he once had while going against tight end George Kittle.

"I'm definitely looking forward to going against him in practice," Ebukam said of Kittle. "You've always got to be on your toes for him because he's going to give you everything he's got every rep. It felt good to get that sack on him, but I was like, 'Damn, I know he's coming back harder, so I've got to stay on my guard.'

"It's going to be fun seeing him out here because every day is going to be something different because I know he's a high-energy guy on the field, as well, so I can't wait."

Another high-energy guy is Ebukam's former college teammate and friend from Eastern Washington — wide receiver Kendrick Bourne. Both are from Oregon, and the two are just missing each other in the Bay Area. Ebukam and Bourne entered the league in 2017. While Ebukam is finally joining the 49ers, Bourne has headed to the New England Patriots.

"I didn't talk to him beforehand, but after, he was salty because he was like, 'Damn, when I'm leaving, you coming,'" Ebukam shared with a laugh. "He was definitely happy for me. He was like, 'Yeah, it's definitely going to fit your energy and just who you are,' and saying that I'm going to enjoy it. And so far, I have. I know I'm going to make more memories on the field, just being on this team.

"Everyone talks about him and how he's a high-energy guy, but I'm just like, 'That's just been my homie since high school.' It's awesome for him, where he's going. It's kind of unfortunate that we missed each other right here."
