According to a photo posted to the player's Instagram account, the San Francisco 49ers added to their cornerback depth by re-signing Dontae Johnson to a one-year deal. The photo was captured below by David Lombardi of The Athletic.


San Francisco made Johnson a fourth-round selection out of NC State in 2014. He registered 23 tackles, a sack, and three passes defensed through 14 games with the 49ers in 2020.

Johnson, 29, has recorded 184 tackles, five tackles for a loss, seven quarterback hits, a sack, 24 passes defensed, two interceptions, and two touchdowns through his seven NFL seasons. He spent time with the Seattle Seahawks, Buffalo Bills, Arizona Cardinals, and Los Angeles Chargers between his two stints with the 49ers.
