The 49ers announced the move soon after Schrager's report, making it official.
"We are very excited to have Jaquiski back with our team," said general manager John Lynch via a statement issued by the team. "Jaquiski is an extremely skilled and versatile player who provides excellent communication skills for our defense. Welcome back Quiski!"
The news comes after a report that the team is signing veteran free-agent safety Tavon Wilson to a one-year deal. Many assumed this pointed to an end to Tartt's time in San Francisco. That obviously is not the case.
The 49ers made Tartt a second-round selection out of Samford in 2015. He recorded 30 tackles, one tackle for a loss, an interception, and four passes defended through seven games in 2020 before landing on injured reserve on November 11 due to turf toe.
Tartt, 29, has 301 tackles, 16 tackles for a loss, four interceptions, four sacks, and 17 passes defensed during his six NFL seasons.
Note: This article was updated once the 49ers officially announced the signing.
