"The bay would be booomin," commented veteran tackle Trent Williams, obviously hinting that the four-time first-team All-Pro receiver should join the 49ers.
The Buccaneers are reportedly still talking to Brown's representatives, per ESPN, which means a reunion with the defending Super Bowl champions isn't out of the question. Brown still sees that possibility, saying, "Me and Playoff Lenny (Leonard Fournette) gonna work this out," when a fan wrote that Brown needed to return to Tampa Bay.
The 49ers' division rivals, the Seattle Seahawks, could also be a possibility. They have reportedly expressed interest in the veteran wideout.
Brown was active for eight games last season and caught 45 passes for 483 yards and four touchdowns. Brown was suspended for eight games in 2020 for multiple violations of the NFL's personal conduct policy. According to NFL.com, his suspension stemmed from his no-contest plea to burglary and battery charges from an incident in Florida last year and accusations that he sent intimidating texts to a woman who accused Brown of making past unwanted advances toward her.
Brown has caught 886 passes for 11,746 yards and 79 touchdowns during his 11 NFL seasons. He is a seven-time Pro Bowl selection.
H/t to Josh Schrock of NBC Sports for the find.
