Today's trades have left analysts scrambling to update their mock drafts. The San Francisco 49ers are suddenly in a position to select one of the top quarterback prospects. Trevor Lawrence will almost certainly go No. 1 overall to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The New York Jets are expected to select Zach Wilson with the No. 2 overall pick.

NFL Media analyst Chad Reuter released an updated mock draft and has Lawrence and Wilson gone by the 49ers' spot at No. 3. Still, it leaves San Francisco with several options, and Reuter has the team going with former North Dakota State quarterback Trey Lance.

"The 49ers pulled off a major trade with the Dolphins on Friday, moving up nine slots to presumably land their quarterback of the future," wrote Reuter. "We're not sure which quarterback they love enough to give up two future first-round picks and a third-rounder, but for now, I'll run with Lance. His athleticism and arm strength could be an excellent fit in Kyle Shanahan's offense."

Lance (6-4, 226) appeared in just one game in 2020, throwing for 149 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception while adding 143 rushing yards and two more scores on the ground in a 39-28 victory over Central Arkansas. He completed 66.9 percent of his passes for 2,786 yards with 28 touchdowns and no interceptions through 16 games as a sophomore in 2019.

Reuter's colleague, fellow analyst Daniel Jeremiah, also feels all signs point to Lance being the selection at No. 3.

"Trey Lance brings a whole new world of imagination for your offense with what he can do, and the plays he can create, and being able to use him in some of the quarterback run game as well," Jeremiah said on NFL Network's Path to the Draft.

Reuter's mock draft runs through the first four rounds. He has the 49ers selecting former Clemson running back Travis Etienne in the second round (No. 43 overall), former Minnesota cornerback Benjamin St-Juste in the third round (No. 102 overall), and former Stanford center Drew Dalman in round four (No. 117 overall).
