Former NFL executive Michael Lombardi, now a writer with The Athletic, recently joined SiriusXM's The Wrap and sounded confident that he at least knows what the San Francisco 49ers aren't doing with the No. 3 overall pick. The team traded up to the spot on March 26, surrendering four draft picks, including its own first-rounders over the next three drafts, to move up nine spots from No. 12.

The three candidates with the best betting odds to be San Francisco's first selection are Justin Fields of Ohio State, Mac Jones of Alabama, and Trey Lance of North Dakota State, in that order.

Lombardi is convinced it won't be Fields, though.

"Can I tell you the news that I've heard? Justin Fields is not going to go No. 3," Lombardi told Patrick Meagher (h/t to Sasha D. Robinson). "That's what I've heard."

The writer acknowledges there are skeptics on Twitter who feel he could be wrong. He even has a message for them.

"Where are you getting your information?" a snarky Lombardi asked. "Like, you've got better sources than me? Good luck. Good luck. I'm just telling you, if it's not Mac Jones, it's Trey Lance. So, take that [how] you want, Patrick. Please do with it what you will."

Fields worked out in front of the 49ers and other NFL teams last week, which resulted in him jumping above Jones in the eyes of oddsmakers. Lance will hold a workout in front of the Niners on Monday, which could boost his odds of being the No. 3 overall pick.
