The San Francisco 49ers have signed former New York Giants running back Wayne Gallman, per Field Yates of ESPN. The team later confirmed the signing, announcing that it was a one-year deal. San Francisco hosted Gallman on a visit earlier this week.

The Giants made Gallman a fourth-round selection out of Clemson in 2017. He has 1,444 rushing yards on 338 attempts with nine rushing touchdowns through his four NFL seasons, all with New York.

Gallman, 26, finished last season with 147 carries for a career-high 682 rushing yards with six rushing touchdowns through 15 games while adding 21 receptions for 114 receiving yards. He took over the workload after Saquon Barkley suffered an ACL injury during Week 2.

The 49ers Communications staff provided the following additional rundown.

A 26-year-old native of Loganville, GA, Gallman attended Clemson University where he appeared in 42 games (37 starts) and finished his career with 676 carries for 3,429 yards and 34 touchdowns along with 65 receptions for 473 yards and two touchdowns through the air.
