Trey Lance will hear his name called on Thursday night. San Francisco 49ers fans are eager to know if their favorite team will call the quarterback's name. Rich Eisen is also very interested to know where Lance is headed and grilled the former Bison about his interactions with the Niners.

"How are your Zooms with the 49ers, Trey?" Eisen came out and asked the quarterback during The Rich Eisen Show.

"I actually ... um," Lance said before pausing, as if he were carefully choosing his next words.

"They've been going well," he continued. "I haven't had any more with them than I've had with any other team. But definitely looking forward to [the draft], like said, finding out where I'm going to be. I wish I knew, just as much as you do. Probably more. But I really don't know where I'm going to end up at. So, hopefully, Thursday, we'll find out."

Eisen asked how many conversations Lance has had with San Francisco since the team traded up to the No. 3 spot on March 26.

"Just a couple of phone calls, really, has been the most," Lance responded. "I don't even know if I've had a Zoom with them in the last four weeks, honestly. Maybe one Zoom with them. But other than that, it's just been phone calls, and not like it's an everyday thing or anything like that. Just their regular housekeeping, making sure they've got my contact info, things like that."

Eisen laughed. Yes, definitely make sure that contact information is correct, 49ers. You may need it on Thursday night.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch helped make sure Lance held a second closed-to-the-media pro day in Fargo, North Dakota, on April 19. Other teams were in attendance, but it reportedly had the feel of a 49ers-run workout.

"I just wanted to give teams an opportunity to see me again," Lance said. "I want teams to know, whether it's Zoom meetings or throwing on the field, I want them to know exactly what they're getting. I just want to be as real as possible.

"... I obviously played one game in 2020, so people didn't get to see me, a large sample size of me, and I understand (the concerns over) only playing 17 games, and things like that. But I wanted to give people another chance to see me throw, and do whatever they wanted to see me do, first and foremost, before Thursday."

What can Lance's new NFL team expect from him?

"A competitor, first and foremost," he answered. "Someone that obviously loves the game of football and wants to have an opportunity to play. I believe in myself. I'm confident in what I can do. But at the same time, I'm going to come in and learn as much as I possibly can. Whatever my role is that first year, Week 1, I'm going to do it to the best of my ability.

"At the end of the day, I'm going to come in, earn respect from as many people as I possibly can. Everyone in the locker room and in the organization, and just handle myself the right way."

Eisen didn't stop at fishing for 49ers-related information. He asked about Lance's interview with Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots.

"I actually did not say that I had a Zoom meeting with Coach Belichick," Lance responded while laughing.

Nice try, Rich. And good job not falling for the fake, Trey.
