It's been just over a week since Trey Lance was drafted No. 3 overall by the San Francisco 49ers, and he has already started the process of building chemistry with his new NFL teammates. The former North Dakota State star quarterback is working out with one of the Niners' first-round picks from last year, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk (h/t to Alex Didion of NBC Sports).

The two are in Southern California working out at Spellman Performance. Wide receiver Richie James is also at the facility, getting ready for the 49ers' offseason program.

Lance has not played in a game since an October 3, 2020, non-conference win over Central Arkansas. It was his only appearance last season due to the Bison's season being canceled amid the pandemic.

Lance's only full season of collegiate football came as a sophomore in 2019 when he completed 66.9 percent of his passes for 2,786 yards with 28 passing touchdowns and no interceptions through 16 games while adding 1,100 rushing yards with 14 rushing touchdowns.

Aiyuk was the No. 25 overall pick last year, the second of two first-round selections by the Niners. He led the team in receptions (60), receiving yards (748), and receiving touchdowns (5) while appearing in just 12 games during his rookie campaign.

Lance will meet more of his new teammates starting on May 14, when San Francisco kicks off its three-day rookie minicamp.
