The Checkdown asked some of the rookie quarterbacks from this year's draft class to predict their Madden NFL 22 ratings for the upcoming season. It's always difficult to rate rookies because they have yet to prove anything in the league.
Trey Lance was among those asked to predict their ratings in the upcoming release of the football video game franchise, and the San Francisco 49ers rookie quarterback sounded optimistic about his potential rating. Maybe too optimistic.
Lance believes his Madden rating should be 88 "because I can do a lot of things, I can make plays."
The 49ers quarterback isn't the only one being a little too hopeful.
Mac Jones of the New England Patriots feels that his rating will be lower than he probably deserves but still feels it could land at about 85. Justin Fields of the Chicago Bears is a bit more realistic, feeling that his rating will probably be between 78 to 81, which would be extremely good for a rookie quarterback. Zach Wilson, the No. 2 overall pick by the New York Jets, predicted the group's highest rating, saying his should be 90.
Wow. 90.
It's worth noting that the highest ever Madden rating for a rookie quarterback was an 83, earned by Andrew Luck, formerly of the Indianapolis Colts. Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals was last year's highest rated rookie quarterback with a rating of 76.
Needless to say, some of these rookie quarterbacks might be disappointed by their ratings when they are revealed this summer.
