San Francisco 49ers rookie quarterback Trey Lance is spending the next month preparing for training camp. He threw some passes to teammate Mohamed Sanu this week, and the veteran wideout had a little fun at the rookie's expense.

Many NFL players use the cars they drive to make a statement. The bigger the contract, the flashier the car might be. Lance's statement appears to be, "Cut me some slack. I haven't even signed my rookie deal yet."

Sanu jokingly poked fun of Lance's ride this week — a Chevrolet Malibu. It's probably not the statement vehicle you would expect of a young up-and-coming star.

"All that money, he pull up in a Malibu," Sanu can be heard saying while laughing at his quarterback, who is sitting in the car (h/t to Patrick Tulini for the find).

It was all in good fun, though.

Eventually, Lance will sign his four-year rookie contract, valued at $34.1 million (number from OverTheCap.com). It will include a signing bonus of $22.2 million, so, should he choose to do so, the quarterback will be able to upgrade his ride after that.

Lance is one of three 49ers draft picks who remain unsigned. The others are running back Trey Sermon and cornerback Ambry Thomas.

49ers players return to Santa Clara on July 27. Their first training camp practice is slated to begin four days later.
