Said Brady in the promo: "One of the teams, they weren't interested at the very end. I was thinking, you're sticking with that motherf--ker?"
Many speculated that Brady was talking about the San Francisco 49ers, who had looked into the possibility of bringing in the quarterback but opted to stick with the younger Jimmy Garoppolo following a Super Bowl run.
Adam Maya of NFL Media shared more of what Brady said, now that the episode has premiered.
"I look back, I'm like, there's no (expletive) way I would have went to that team," Brady said via Maya. "But they said they didn't want me, and I know what that means. I know what that feels like and I'm going to (expletive) you up because of that."
Looking at the list of rumored teams interested in Brady, you can easily rule out a few based on the comments. You can seemingly rule out San Francisco because several reports stated that it was one of the teams Brady preferred. Plus, Garoppolo has said that his relationship with Brady remains good. It would seem like an odd thing to say about the 49ers quarterback if that is true.
Maya concludes that two possibilities are the Chicago Bears and the Las Vegas Raiders.
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk is sticking with the idea that Brady was talking about 49ers and Garoppolo, though. He doesn't believe it was Chicago.
"Per multiple sources with direct knowledge of the situation, it wasn't the Bears," wrote Florio.
While the Pro Football Talk writer says nothing about the possibility of Brady talking about the Raiders, he does feel things still point back to San Francisco despite Brady saying there is no way he would have gone to the team that seemingly dismissed him.
"The trail of breadcrumbs keeps leading back to the 49ers and Jimmy Garoppolo," Florio adds. "So what if both players are represented by the same agent? Brady basically represents himself, negotiating the number and telling Don Yee to draw up the paperwork. Brady's not going to alter his opinions about other Yee clients."
