The San Francisco 49ers held their third of 13 scheduled training camp practices. Below are some practice notes from various media sources.

Did not practice:

"He'll be out for a little bit," head coach Kyle Shanahan said of Pruitt after practice. "Maurice Hurst is day-to-day with a slight ankle."

Limited:

The practice opened with rookie offensive lineman Aaron Banks firing up the fans.

Shanahan's son, Carter, joined his dad for practice today. He starts football next week and even got in some work fielding punts.

"He wasn't within 20 yards of one," Shanahan said, "so I told him I'd give him five dollars if he just touched one. And the last one, he ran through and touched it, and I think he almost broke his arm."

It's worth noting that Marcell Harris is working at linebacker, transitioning from a safety. He had two pass breakups during practice.

"Marcell, he's my locker-mate, so we talk a lot," linebacker Dre Greenlaw said. "The transition for him, I mean, having him in our room is going to be great. It's going to be a great add having somebody that can cover and just has that [defensive back] kind of mindset that can kind of help us in some ways, whether it's covering running backs or covering tight ends. ... He's coming along as far as just becoming more of a linebacker."

Added Shanahan: "We know what he can do at safety. We're just seeing what he can do [at linebacker]."
