The 49ers are without several cornerbacks during training camp. Emmanuel Moseley remains on the reserve/COVID-19 list while Tim Harris (groin) and Dontae Johnson (foot) have been sidelined.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan was asked if the team would look into adding some cornerback help.
"Yeah, possibly," Shanahan responded. "I mean, it depends. We were down a number of guys today, which made it tough. Dontae is day-to-day. I think, he's, hopefully, back tomorrow. If not, I think it would be after our day off. Tim's going to be a couple of weeks."
The Dallas Cowboys made Webb (5-11, 188) a fourth-round selection out of William & Mary in 2013. He registered 37 tackles, a tackle for a loss, seven passes defensed, and an interception through 15 games and 12 starts with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2019. Before that, the cornerback spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans, New Orleans Saints, Cleveland Browns, and New York Giants.
Webb, 31, has recorded 164 tackles, four tackles for a loss, a sack, 27 passes defensed, four interceptions, and a forced fumble through his seven NFL seasons. He has appeared in 80 career games, including 35 starts.
Webb did not appear in a regular-season game in 2017 or 2020. He signed with Arizona Cardinals on August 21, 2020, but was released six days later.
