Neither Jimmy Garoppolo nor Trey Lance started hot against the Los Angeles Chargers. Both San Francisco 49ers quarterbacks threw interceptions early on. Lance, however, received some extended playing time and remained on the field into the third quarter.

Lance ended up throwing two touchdowns before Nate Sudfeld took over. The first came in the first half's closing seconds, with San Francisco training 10-2. The rookie quarterback delivered the birthday gift to veteran wide receiver Mohamed Sanu in the end zone.

Lance's second touchdown pass came in the third quarter, landing in the hands of former Chargers receiver Travis Benjamin, who caught it in stride and continued into the end zone.

Lance finished the game 8-of-14 passing for 102 yards with two touchdowns, one interception, and a passer rating of 89.9.
