It sure looked like Jimmy Garoppolo was confident that he, not rookie Trey Lance, would be the Week 1 starter when the San Francisco 49ers face the Detroit Lions. Of course, Garoppolo didn't come right out and say that. However, how he responded to the question indicated that he'd be under center on September 12.

Minutes earlier, Kyle Shanahan told reporters that he had a pretty good idea who would be his starting quarterback. Although, the coach is still avoiding officially announcing anything, as there is no advantage to doing so, aside from stopping the repetitive questions.

Garoppolo was asked if he, too, had a pretty good idea about the Week 1 starter.

"Yeah, I have a pretty good idea," Garoppolo responded.

Of course, he said that with a big grin across his face and then a laugh, indicating that he is probably happy with what he feels the decision will be.

"It's whatever [Shanahan] decides," Garoppolo continued when pressed about his reaction. "I have a pretty good idea. I'm pretty happy with where I'm at right now and everything, just the offense as a whole. Yeah, Kyle's the head man. He'll make the call."

You can see Garoppolo's reaction below, so take a look and see what you think.
