San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw will undergo a procedure to repair a groin injury, per Matt Barrows of The Athletic. It is not expected to end his season but the defender will obviously miss some time. While Barrows initially reported that timeline to be about four to six weeks, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reports it to be six to eight weeks.

Greenlaw suffered the injury during the 49ers' Week 1 victory over the Detroit Lions. The linebacker has not practiced since.

San Francisco made Greenlaw (6-0, 227) a fifth-round selection out of Arkansas in 2019. He registered six tackles, a pass defensed, and an interception on Sunday against the Lions. The linebacker returned that interception of quarterback Jared Goff for a touchdown.

Greenlaw, 24, has recorded 172 tackles, two sacks, four passes defensed, two interceptions, and a touchdown in 30 game appearances (23 starts) through his three NFL seasons.
