On Thursday, Michael Silver of NFL Network reported, via a series of tweets, that the San Francisco 49ers calling Green Bay in April to inquire about the availability of quarterback Aaron Rodgers created some drama between Kyle Shanahan and Packers head coach Matt LaFleur.

The 49ers head coach was asked about that report after practice on Friday. Does he feel there was any tension between himself and LaFleur after the inquiry?

"No, I don't," Shanahan responded. "I mean, I definitely heard about people talking about our friendship. I've got a lot of friends in this league; coaches, players, equipment managers, everybody. I've been in this league for 20 years, and you do have lots of friends, but I can promise you that friends never affect how you do your job.

"We all have jobs to do, and you all have relationships, but you always do your job and try not to think about anything else."

Earlier this week, before Silver's report surfaced, LaFleur was asked about his friendship with Shanahan and if the 49ers reaching out created a rift between the two.

"Kyle's a great friend of mine," LaFleur said via Bill Huber of SI. "Absolutely, I hold no ill will toward him."

The 49ers and Packers are scheduled to play each other on Sunday night at Levi's Stadium.
