Most analysts already view Nick Bosa as one of the best pass rushers in the NFL. He racked up nine regular-season sacks as a rookie and added four more in the playoffs. This year, he leads the San Francisco 49ers with five sacks.

While the accolades have come due to Bosa's ability to frustrate opposing quarterbacks, the talented defensive end believes he and a teammate might actually be vastly underrated when it comes to another category.

Bosa has proven himself to be a great overall player, remaining in the game during run plays. He ranks fifth against the run among edge rushers with over 55 snaps, per Pro Football Focus' grading system.

"I love the run game because it just gets me going in the game," Bosa said after today's practice. "And if the run's away from me, the whole first quarter, I kind of get -- I just get antsy and feel I'm not part of the game.


"So, [I like being] involved in the run game, and taking on blocks, and turn-outs, and being physical because I think me and [Arik Armstead] are probably the best edge-setters in the game. So, I definitely take pride in that."

The 49ers will look to snap their three-game losing streak this weekend against the Indianapolis Colts. Bosa isn't underestimating his team's 2-4 opponent. He was asked what jumps out about Indianapolis.

"Definitely run game," Bosa responded.

Colts running back Jonathan Taylor's 472 rushing yards this season ranks fifth in the NFL. But it's not just the potent rushing attack that should have the 49ers concerned.

"All around, good blocking, good O-line, good tight ends," Bosa continued. "And then a quarterback who just is really tough to bring down. It's definitely going to be a group effort to get him down."
