NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Houston Texans are trading defensive end Charles Omenihu to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a future late-round draft pick.

The Houston Texans made Omenihu (6-5, 280) a fifth-round selection out of Texas in 2019. He has registered 11 tackles, a tackle for a loss, and three quarterback hits through six games this season.

Omenihu, 24, has recorded 41 tackles, seven sacks, four passes defensed, and two forced fumbles in 35 game appearances (seven starts) through his three NFL seasons. His most productive season came in 2020 when he brought down opposing quarterbacks four times while recording 17 tackles, five tackles for a loss, and 16 quarterback hits.

Update: Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports that the future late-round draft pick is a selection in 2023.

Update 2: The 49ers are sending a 2023 sixth-round pick to the Texans in exchange for Omenihu, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
