That's fine by Kittle, who has repeatedly admitted that he enjoys moving men against their will from point A to point B more than catching passes. He certainly did that with the Rams' newest defensive weapon, pass rusher Von Miller. In fact, Kittle made the eight-time Pro Bowler look downright silly on the play.
Kittle spoke with reporters after the game. The All-Pro tight end was asked what it was like blocking Miller, who was traded from the Denver Broncos to the Rams on November 1.
"It was awesome," Kittle responded.
That's probably not how most blockers would describe going against one of the best pass rushers in the game. Kittle is no ordinary blocker, though. Most view him as the best overall tight end in the league because he can do it all, including finding joy in pushing around defenders.
"I mean, I know there's a highlight," Kittle continued. "I got a pancake on it. And yes, it was an awesome play. [fullback Kyle] Juszczyk helped me out a ton on that. We did that all night with all those motions and stuff. We had Juice doing it. We had Jeff Wilson doing it. We had Deebo [Samuel] doing it. We had Trent Sherfield doing it. So, just the fact that we can use all these guys that have a physical mindset, an aggressive mindset on those plays, it allows us to attack those outside edges when they have fantastic outside edge players.
"Like, [Leonard] Floyd is really good. Von Miller is really good. [The Rams] have studs out there. When you can double-team those and then get up to a DB, it makes your life a little bit easier. But yeah, when you run the ball 44 times, there's not much [of] anything better than that."
Next up for Kittle and the 49ers are the Jacksonville Jaguars, who they will face at TIAA Bank Field this weekend.
