Rookie running back Elijah Mitchell, the team's leading rusher, suffered a finger fracture.
"He's having his procedure done today," Shanahan told reporters. "We should get an update from the doctor this afternoon, whether he'll be able to practice or play with that."
Shanahan said he is unsure exactly when the injury occurred. Nor is the coach sure which hand sustained the fracture.
"It sounded like they're pretty optimistic he'll be alright," Shanahan noted. "But they've just got to put a pin in it, see how it fits, and if they can just protect it. They think they'll be able to, but we don't know for sure until the guy who does the surgery does it.
"But I'm hoping he has a chance to practice tomorrow."
Another rookie, offensive lineman Jaylon Moore, left the game with a knee injury and did not return. Shanahan said tests revealed no significant structural damage to the knee, and the team will assess Moore's status throughout the week. Tom Compton replaced Moore at right tackle in the game.
"Josh Norman, same [status] with his ribs," Shanahan added. "He'll be limited this week."
The 49ers' leading receiver, Deebo Samuel, sustained a shin contusion and is considered day-to-day.
