The San Francisco 49ers have placed newly signed practice squad wide receiver Devin Funchess on injured reserve, per the NFL transaction wire and first reported by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

The 49ers announced Funchess' signing on November 24.

The Carolina Panthers made Funchess a second-round draft pick in 2015. Throughout his six-year career with the Panthers (2015-18), Indianapolis Colts (2019), and Green Bay Packers (2020), he has appeared in 62 games with 41 starts and registered 164 receptions for 2,265 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Funchess has not appeared in an NFL game since breaking his collarbone in Week 1 of the 2019 season while with the Colts. While with the Packers last season, he opted out due to COVID-19 concerns.

The NFL transaction wire also included the following 49ers-related moves.

The 49ers placed Nacua on injured reserve on November 2.

San Francisco did not protect any practice squad players this week.
