There is always next year, and oddsmakers like the 49ers' chances to bring the Lombardi Trophy back to San Francisco in February of 2023. The Niners own the third-best odds in the NFC to win Super Bowl LVII, per FanDuel Sportsbook, and the fifth-best overall odds.
Below are the current odds for the Super Bowl LVII champions.
- Kansas City Chiefs, +700
- Buffalo Bills, +700
- Los Angeles Rams, +1200
- Dallas Cowboys, +1200
- San Francisco 49ers, +1500
- Green Bay Packers, +1500
- Cincinnati Bengals, +1900
- Baltimore Ravens, +1900
- Denver Broncos, +2200
- Cleveland Browns, +2200
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers, +2200
After a 3-5 start, the 49ers went on an impressive run, earning a playoff berth in the final week of the regular season. They then knocked off two division winners—the Dallas Cowboys and top-seeded Green Bay Packers—before losing 20-17 to the Rams.
With playmakers like wide receiver (and sometimes running back) Deebo Samuel on offense and pass rusher Nick Bosa on defense, it's tough not to like the 49ers' chances of a strong return.
The biggest question mark is at quarterback. San Francisco is expected to part ways with veteran Jimmy Garoppolo, likely leaving the offense in the hands of an inexperienced Trey Lance. After sitting behind Garoppolo for most of 2021, the second-year quarterback's development will be critical to the team's future success.
However, it looks like oddsmakers like the 49ers' chances for now.
