Fans didn't get much of a look at last year's No. 3 overall pick, Trey Lance. The San Francisco 49ers quarterback started just two games during his rookie campaign while appearing in four more. He finished the 2021 season with 603 passing yards, five touchdown passes, a rushing touchdown, and two interceptions.

Fans hoped to see more from the young player the 49ers traded significant draft capital to acquire. Lance did not play following a Week 17 start against the Houston Texans and finished with just 178 offensive snaps this past season.

Most expect Lance to be the starter in 2022. Until now, no one but the coaching staff got to see how Lance was performing during practices.

Javier Vega recently got his hands on some practice footage that showed off some nice passes by Lance. If nothing else, the video is enough to get fans excited for the upcoming season and the possibilities for the 49ers offense with Lance at the helm.

Jay Glazer of the NFL of FOX recently reported that those inside the 49ers' building are impressed with Lance's development and potential.

"I've heard great stuff about him, honestly," Glazer said. "I've heard they love him. They're enamored with him. He does some things in practice that make you go, 'Oh my goodness.'"

Jim Trotter of NFL Network recently added that the 49ers considered starting Lance heading into a season, but an injury sidelined those thoughts.

"He was in consideration, actually, to start going into the season until he got hurt in that preseason game where he injured the index finger on his throwing hand," Trotter said. "And there was even a discussion about possibly starting him in that final regular-season game."

The 49ers stuck with an injured Jimmy Garoppolo and fought their way to the NFC Championship Game before falling to the eventual Super Bowl champions, the Los Angeles Rams.
