Not even George Kittle can escape the Tom Brady questions. He tried, though. He really did. The San Francisco 49ers tight end, while attending an NHL game in Nashville on Saturday between the Lightning and Predators, was interviewed by the NHL on TNT (h/t Alek Arend of The Spun).

Kittle was asked if his Niners are getting Tom Brady. Brady, of course, is retired. However, that hasn't stopped the speculation that the future Hall of Fame quarterback would love to play one more season for the team he grew up cheering—the 49ers. But, for now, that's all it is—speculation.

"I think I'm off the air now," Kittle jokingly responded, pretending to look at his watch. "Sorry, you're breaking up. I can't hear you. I know just about as much as all you guys."

Last year's No. 3 overall draft pick, Trey Lance, is widely expected to be the 49ers' starting quarterback come September. The team will likely trade its starter of the past four-and-a-half seasons—Jimmy Garoppolo—in the coming weeks.

TMZ Sports recently asked Kittle if he felt Lance was ready to be a starting NFL quarterback.

"Yeah," Kittle responded.

The tight end, like everyone else, is waiting to see how the quarterback situation plays out. Who would he prefer to see throwing him passes in 2022?

"Whatever's best for the football team," Kittle told TMZ Sports. "Whatever [head coach] Kyle Shanahan and [general manager] John Lynch decide, it's going to be great."
