In a move that was not unexpected, the San Francisco 49ers have picked up fullback Kyle Juszczyk's option for the 2023 through 2025 seasons, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The move guarantees Juszczyk an additional $1.25 million in 2023.

The Baltimore Ravens made Juszczyk (6-1, 235) a fourth-round selection out of Harvard in 2013. He is highly regarded as the best fullback in the NFL and is well compensated. Juszczyk's $5.4 million annual salary is $1.65 million more than the second-highest-paid fullback (Patrick Ricard of the Baltimore Ravens), per Spotrac.com.

Juszczyk, 30, carried the football eight times for 22 yards and a rushing touchdown while adding 30 receptions for 296 yards with a receiving touchdown through 17 game appearances (16 starts) with the 49ers last season, per Pro Football Reference. The six-time Pro Bowl selection has 179 rushing yards on 50 attempts and four rushing touchdowns in 127 game appearances (87 starts) through his nine NFL seasons.

After four seasons with the Ravens, Juszczyk signed a four-year, $21 million deal with San Francisco in 2017. In 2021, he signed a five-year, $27 million deal to remain with the 49ers.
