According to Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network, the San Francisco 49ers met with safety Leon O'Neal at Texas A&M's Pro Day on March 22. The Bay Area team is also among those scheduled to hold a pre-draft virtual meeting with the young defender via Zoom. The other teams are the Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers, Baltimore Ravens, Dallas Cowboys, who also met with O'Neal at the Pro Day, and Indianapolis Colts.

"It's not real complicated, I know I'm ready for the NFL," O'Neal told Wilson. "I'm just going to come in and be who I am. I'm an enforcer. A lot of my game is based on how explosive I am with certain things in pursuit. I attack the ball. I'm always around the ball. Like Budda Baker, you can't help but see him around the football. That's how I approach the game."


O'Neal registered 58 tackles, three tackles for a loss, a sack, five passes defensed, two interceptions, and a touchdown through 12 game appearances as a senior in 2021, per Sports Reference. He recorded 161 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, a sack, 12 passes defensed, six interceptions, and a touchdown through his four collegiate seasons.

At the NFL Scouting Combine, the 6' 0 1/2" and 204-pound O'Neal had a vertical jump of 35 inches, a broad jump of 125 inches, completed the three-cone drill in 6.89 seconds, and 15 reps in the bench press. O'Neal's other measurables include an arm length of 31 5/8 inches and hands measuring 10 1/4 inches.

Added O'Neal: "With the amount of work I put in, the amount of discipline I put into the game, I know I'm ready. My character flows through me. I have the energy to be a safety. I'm a leader 24/7."
