Maybe it was in jest. Maybe he was serious. However, this Facebook comment might stir things up among the San Francisco 49ers fanbase. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel's brother, Tyquan Samuel, said that Deebo will ask for a trade.

Samuel's brother later opted to double down on the comment.

Samuel and the 49ers appear to be far apart in negotiating a contract extension for the fourth-year receiver. On Tuesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that San Francisco stands ready to continue negotiations in good faith but that Samuel has halted the process.

Samuel made headlines by scrubbing his Instagram account of all things 49ers-related. He is not in Santa Clara with his teammates, who reported for the start of the 49ers' offseason program on Tuesday.

"Deebo Samuel was the one who scrubbed the 49ers' logos off his social media page," Schefter said on ESPN. "Deebo Samuel was the one that basically admitted he wanted to move on. San Francisco would pay Deebo Samuel today, tomorrow, the next day. It's not that hard to figure out what the contract would look like. We've seen some of the top numbers in the league.

"This, I think, right now, is Deebo Samuel not wanting to get a deal done. It's not San Francisco not willing to do the deal. The 49ers are ready. Deebo Samuel is the one that has put a halt to everything for right now."

If the 49ers intend to trade Samuel, it will likely be before or on the first day of the draft, which kicks off next Thursday. However, if Samuel remains on the roster after that, it is likely a good indication that San Francisco is confident that the two sides can reach a deal.
