According to Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network, the San Francisco 49ers held a virtual pre-draft meeting with Wisconsin safety Scott Nelson. While in-person visits ended on April 20, teams continue to hold virtual meetings with draft prospects, even a day before the start of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Nelson is from Detroit, MI, and Wilson calls the defender a "rising Day 3 draft target." San Francisco currently owns six Day 3 picks.


Nelson registered 58 tackles, four tackles for a loss, 0.5 sacks, six passes defensed, an interception, and a touchdown through 13 game appearances as a senior in 2021, per Sports Reference. He recorded 125 tackles, 11.5 tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks, 15 passes defensed, four interceptions, a touchdown, and a forced fumble through his four collegiate seasons.

The 6-foot-2 and 205-pound Nelson had a 40-time of 4.49 seconds, a vertical jump of 39.50 inches, a broad jump of 126 inches, 14 reps in the bench press, a 6.80-second three-cone drill time, and a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.14 seconds at his personal Pro Day. At his school Pro Day, he had a 40-time of 4.69 seconds, a vertical jump of 35.40 inches, and a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.24 seconds.
