According to Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network, the San Francisco 49ers held a virtual pre-draft meeting with Baylor safety JT Woods, who could be an option for the team during day two or three of the draft. NFL.com projects him to be a fourth-round draft pick.


Woods registered 57 tackles, 4.5 tackles for a loss, two passes defensed, five interceptions, and a touchdown through 14 game appearances as a senior in 2021, per Sports Reference. He recorded 157 tackles, eight tackles for a loss, two sacks, five passes defensed, eight interceptions, and a touchdown through his four collegiate seasons.


Woods is from San Antonio, TX.

"Long-levered safety with excellent top-end speed and the potential to become a rangy playmaker if he can learn to play with better overall discipline," wrote Lance Zierlein of NFL.com. "Woods has too many busted assignments to be trusted in single-high alignments at this time, but offers teams the coverage versatility to be deployed in a variety of spots. If he can play with better decisiveness, he has the length, burst and striking power to impact catch tries and take the ball away. Woods' tools are likely to make him a Day 2 pick, but he'll need to prove that his run support and tackle finishing are on a functional level for the pro game."

At the NFL Scouting Combine, the 6' 2 1/8" and 195-pound Woods had a 40-time of 4.36 seconds, a vertical jump of 39.5 inches, and a broad jump of 128 inches. His other measurables include an arm length of 32 3/8 inches and hands measuring 8 1/2 inches.

Woods had 14 reps in the bench press, a 6.94-second three-cone drill time, and a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.19 seconds at his personal Pro Day.
