Gore voiced his opinion on Friday, responding to a tweet asking fans to name the best wide receiver in the NFL. Gore's answer? Deebo Samuel.
Not only did he call Samuel the best wide receiver, but he took it further, calling him the "best player all-around" in the NFL (h/t The Spun). That is some high praise from the future Hall of Fame running back.
Samuel had a breakout season in 2021, amassing 1,770 all-purpose yards and 14 total touchdowns (plus a passing touchdown) for the 49ers while proving to be a handful for opposing defenses in the passing and rushing attack.
However, the two sides have not agreed on a contract extension, with Samuel requesting to be traded last month. The 49ers opted not to grant their do-it-all offensive playmaker his wish, hoping to reconcile with their 26-year-old star.
There won't be any contract talks tonight, though. General manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan were otherwise engaged. The two appeared at Chase Center for the Golden State Warriors' playoff game against the Memphis Grizzlies. The home-team Warriors won 142-112.
San Francisco started its offseason program on April 19. Samuel has not reported to the team. The 49ers have a three-day rookie minicamp beginning on Friday.
