According to Max Meyer, an editorial content writer for Caesar's Sportsbook, more money has come in on Trey Lance to win NFL MVP than Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes combined.
All of this money has driven his odds from +20000 all the way down to +6000.
According to DraftKings Sportsbook, as of May 11, Lance actually had the 19th best odds to win the award, tied with teammate Deebo Samuel at +5000.
While the national media may not be very high on Lance and his prospects as the starting quarterback for the 2022 49ers, the betting public seems to have quite a bit of faith in Lance and what he will be able to produce and accomplish in Kyle Shanahan's offense.
OTA's begin tomorrow, May 24, which will give fans their first glimpse of Lance as he takes all of the first-team reps while Jimmy Garoppolo remains sidelined from his shoulder injury and subsequent surgery.
It will be very interesting to monitor not only the narrative surrounding Trey Lance as OTAs, mandatory minicamp, and training camp play out over the summer, but what the betting markets look like as well.
If you're thinking about putting money down on Lance to win NFL MVP for the 2022 season, you may want to do it now in case those odds keep getting lower.
H/t to Patrick Tulini for the find.
