San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch is taking part in the "Dwight Clark Legacy Series" event tonight. He was on stage with NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco and asked about the situation with disgruntled wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who requested a trade this offseason.

"We haven't traded him, and I'd be a fool to trade him. So yes, Deebo will be part of the 49ers this season," Lynch responded, per Maiocco's colleague, Jennifer Lee Chan.

That sounds pretty definitive. The 49ers have no plans to allow their best offensive weapon to walk away from the team this offseason, and Lynch suggested that talks with Samuel have progressed.

"I think we'll be fine there," Lynch said, per The Athletic.

Samuel has not been with the team during organized team activities. The 49ers will hold a three-day minicamp starting on June 13.

One player Lynch doesn't expect to be with the team in 2022 is Jimmy Garoppolo. According to The Athletic, Lynch spoke of the veteran quarterback's contributions to the team in the past tense and expects trade discussions to resume once Garoppolo is healthy. The quarterback underwent shoulder surgery on March 8 and should be able to throw again in about a month.
