Guido made the announcement at the 49ers' annual State of the Franchise event, which was recorded recently and was aired online for the first time on Wednesday. Levi's Stadium last hosted the game for Super Bowl 50 on February 7, 2016. Guido says the team hopes to bring the game back to Levi's Stadium in 2026 (Super Bowl LX) or 2027 (Super Bowl LXI).
"We are talking to the NFL and all of our partners around the ability to bring Super Bowl 60 and/or 61 back to the Bay Area and Levi's Stadium," said Guido.
The next Super Bowl (Super Bowl LVII) will be played in State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The Super Bowl will make its Las Vegas debut at Allegiant Stadium for Super Bowl LVIII, then will head to the Superdome in New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX in 2025.
The 49ers are also hoping to see World Cup games end up in Levi's Stadium in 2026. Hosting duties for the 2026 World Cup will be spread out between a number of cities in Mexico, Canada, and the United States. San Francisco is one of 16 U.S. cities bidding for what could be as many as 10 U.S. hosting sites.
Host winners will be announced Thursday. Other U.S. cities in the running include Atlanta, Boston, Cincinnati, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New York/New Jersey, Orlando, Philadelphia, Seattle, and Washington, D.C, while Mexico (Guadalajara, Monterrey, Mexico City) and Canada (Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver) have three cities each competing for bids.
"We have been bidding on the World Cup for 2026," said Guido said. "I think it's an amazing opportunity for all of us."
