Last season, there were only five players who began the season as a 99 overall: Los Angeles Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey and defensive lineman Aaron Donald, Green Bay Packers receiver Davante Adams, and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce.
Despite being 33 years old, Williams continued his dominance with the 49ers in 2021, earning a 97.8 PFF grade, which was their highest grade ever given to a player.
Last offseason, Williams signed a six-year, $138 million extension with the 49ers after being traded to San Francisco during the 2020 NFL draft in exchange for a 2020 third-round selection and a 2021 fifth-round selection.
Entering his third season with the 49ers, Williams might be as important as ever, as the veteran left tackle will be tasked as second-year quarterback Trey Lance's blindside protector, while also continuing his role as the anchor behind San Francisco's run game.
