Garoppolo survived the second round of cuts, as he remains on the team following the August 23rd cutdown date, but is expected to be moved, either via release or trade, by the 53-man cutdown date next week.
When asked about the possibility of Garoppolo remaining on the team for whatever reason, Inman suggested that the page has been turned, adding that there are no indications otherwise.
"The page has been turned," Inman said. "It's been turned for months. There are no signals whatsoever that they would consider doing that. I understand what you're saying."
Additionally, Inman added that Garoppolo himself doesn't appear interested in returning to the team, with the quarterback waiting for the expected move to occur.
Inman added, "They have a mutual understanding that he's just biding his time now before they either release him or in case [an opportunity opens, presumably due to injury]."
The 49ers could carry Garoppolo on the 53-man roster, but not be responsible for his hefty $24.2 million salary if they release or trade him by the September 10th deadline, but that would require the team to utilize a roster spot for a player that isn't expected to be on the roster, rather than rostering an actual contributor.
However, Inman doesn't believe that'll happen, stating that the possibility is off the table.
