Quick Takeaways

Talanoa Hufanga wasn't just the 49ers' highest-graded player; he was the game's highest-graded player. The safety intercepted Bears quarterback Justin Fields and registered a six-yard return. The interception was the first of his career. Hufanga finished with a career-high 11 tackles and a pass defensed to go with the pick.

The two anchors along the 49ers' offensive line—tackles Trent Williams and Mike McGlinchey—earned the highest offensive grades. Williams allowed three pressures and was responsible for a penalty. McGlinchey allowed two pressures and gave up a sack.

"We made too many mistakes," McGlinchey said after the game. "First and foremost, with me in the first half. I gave up a stupid sack, knocked us out of field-goal range, and that's points right there."

Jauan Jennings ended up being the 49ers' highest-graded receiver, earning a receiving grade of 72.4 off his four catches for 62 yards on six targets.

Deebo Samuel graded among the bottom when it comes to Trey Lance's targets. He hauled in just two of his eight targets for 14 yards and was credited with two drops by Pro Football Focus. Samuel also had a fumble for a loss, contributing to his team-low rushing grade (50.5).

As for Lance, the second-year quarterback just missed the bottom three on offense, earning the unit's fourth-lowest overall grade (53.7). He finished the game 13-of-28 for 164 yards, an interception, and a passer rating of 50.3. Lance was under pressure 13 times and sacked twice.
