It sounds like it will be on the "or more" side. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Mitchell will miss about two months due to an MCL sprain.
Mitchell finished Sunday's game with 41 rushing yards on six carries. The second-year running back was the team's leading rusher a season ago, amassing 963 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 207 carries, setting a new franchise record for single-season rushing yards by a rookie.
Mitchell also dealt with several injuries last season, appearing in just 11 games. Jeff Wilson Jr. stepped in as the featured back in Mitchell's absence on Sunday, finishing the game with 22 rushing yards on nine carries.
San Francisco also has rookie running backs Ty Davis-Price and Jordan Mason on its roster.
