Neither tight end George Kittle nor offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill practiced on Thursday. That's not a good sign regarding their potential availability for Sunday's pivotal Week 2 matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks.

Kittle has not practiced since suffering a groin strain on September 5. Brunskill suffered a hamstring injury during the 49ers' exhibition opener and hasn't practiced since. Neither suited up this past weekend against the Chicago Bears.

"Neither of them were able to [practice] today," Shanahan said Thursday on KNBR. "I'm holding out more hope for George. We haven't ruled Brunskill out yet, I don't believe, but I'd be shocked if Brunskill made it. George still has a chance."

The 49ers are coming off a disappointing 19-10 loss to the Bears, a game they were favored to win. They look to rebound in their home opener against the Seahawks and prevent an 0-2 start to the 2022 season.
