The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 5 contest against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Defensive linemen Arik Armstead and Javon Kinlaw did not practice on Wednesday. Neither was on the field for the Thursday session. Kinlaw is dealing with a "flare-up" in his surgically repaired knee. He was inactive on Monday night against the Los Angeles Rams.

Armstead is working through foot and ankle injuries. He was active against the Rams but exited the game because of the injury and did not return.
