San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa won't play in today's Week 6 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, per Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle. On Friday's game status report, the team listed Bosa as "questionable" with a groin injury that he suffered during last weekend's game against the Carolina Panthers.

"With Bosa sidelined, defensive end Charles Omenihu will likely start for the first time since [he] was acquired in a midseason trade from the Texans in 2021," wrote Branch.

Bosa missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday but was able to participate in Friday's lighter session before traveling from West Virginia, where the team stayed this past week, to Atlanta.

"He looked good, but everything's walk-through today too, so hopefully he would," head coach Kyle Shanahan said of Bosa on Friday. "... You've got to be smart with all that stuff. It's not bad enough to say he's out but you've got to be careful, always, with whoever has that, and obviously, especially Nick."

Bosa has started every game since missing most of 2020 with an ACL injury. The talented pass rusher has a league-leading six sacks to go along with his 15 tackles, six tackles for a loss, and 16 quarterback hits, per Pro Football Reference. In addition, Pro Football Focus has credited him with 31 total pressures, leading the NFL.

San Francisco will be without three defensive line starters—Bosa, Arik Armstead (foot, ankle), and Javon Kinlaw (knee)—against the Falcons. On Saturday, the team placed Kinlaw on the injured reserve list.
