Lynch joined KNBR on Thursday afternoon. While he wasn't explicitly asked about any players by name (Not that he would answer those questions and risk getting fined), Lynch was asked about the trade deadline in general, and if there are any positions he would like to bolster.
"As I think about it, because I think we had a very complete roster, I think the best trades we can make right now is with the inactive list—or the IR list," Lynch said.
The general manager refers to the long list of injured players on the 49ers' roster. The team is among the most injured in the league. However, Lynch and company hope to get some key players back soon. Defensive end Nick Bosa and tackle Trent Williams are practicing this week after missing this past Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons. The 49ers hope to get running back Elijah Mitchell back after the bye week.
"Just getting out guys back," Lynch continued. "Look, if we have the opportunity to play with Bosa and Trent Williams, I'd consider those really good trades. So first and foremost, we've got to do that.
"But I think our actions have demonstrated [we can make moves] when you look at Trent Williams. Not an in-season trade. More around the draft time. Charles Omenihu, another example of a guy. So look, if there's an opportunity to improve ourselves at a place we feel makes sense, we do like our draft picks, and that's how you build your team.
"But any means necessary, we'll always be looking and checking into things. But I think when it's made sense in every aspect, we've gone ahead and pulled the trigger."
