The same goes for wide receiver Jauan Jennings, who hauled in four catches for 40 yards on Sunday night in the 49ers' 22-16 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. "Potential" is the word that Jennings used when describing the offense, which should soon benefit from the number of players who have returned from injuries.
"This offense can go to unbelievable heights," Jennings said in a post-game interview. "We just keep trusting the system and keep getting better in practice, and we'll take it to the game field. This offense, it has, no doubt, unlimited potential."
Jennings was among several players who were unavailable two weeks ago against the Los Angeles Rams. His head coach was happy to have him back.
"Jauan, he's been great for us," Kyle Shanahan said after the game. "He did an awesome job last year. It was good to get him back in this game."
The 49ers sputtered through the first half of the game, entering halftime trailing the Chargers 16-10. NBC's Melissa Stark asked quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo about the team's message at halftime.
"We were killing ourselves in the first half, and we knew it, especially offensively," Garoppolo said during his own post-game interview. "We were killing ourselves with mistakes, and once we cleaned those up, I thought we strung together some good drives and put some points on the board."
As for the offensive weapons returning to the lineup, the quarterback believes that will start impacting games pretty soon. He's glad to have so much talent around him.
"It makes my job a lot easier," Garoppolo said. "Having those guys—a couple of those guys made some big plays tonight, especially with the run after the catch. Jauan made a couple. [Brandon Aiyuk] had a couple of third downs at the end there. Just those little things, guys stepping up in big moments, that's the difference."
