Suh had another option, though, admitting that he could have signed with the San Francisco 49ers.
"Suh told PFT by phone after Sunday's 17-16 win over the Colts in his debut with the Eagles that his decision came down to Philadelphia and San Francisco," wrote Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.
"Suh said that he was attracted to the 49ers because of the presence of defensive line coach Kris Kocurek on the coaching staff. Kocurek first arrived as a coach with the Lions during Suh's rookie year, and Kocurek was there for Suh's entire time in Detroit."
This past week, general manager John Lynch confirmed the 49ers had expressed some interest in the defensive lineman. A deal just never came together.
"We talked to him last year, and we talked to him earlier this year, and it just never came to fruition," Lynch said on KNBR. "I think, ultimately, it sounds like he really sought the Eagles as a place he wanted to be, and you can't get them all. He's a good football player who's on the backend of his career, but I'm sure he'll help them, and a good pickup for the Eagles."
