The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 13 contest against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Deebo Samuel was a limited participant in practice after missing Thursday's session. The wide receiver is dealing with a quad injury. At first, it looked like Samuel might not participate on Friday. Reporters spotted him heading into the weight room as practice kicked off. However, he re-emerged minutes later and joined his teammates on the practice field. Samuel is "questionable" for Sunday.

When asked how much work Samuel got in on Friday, Shanahan responded, "Not much."

The coach added, "When you have a deep thigh bruise, you kind of have an idea of how it's going to be, and it just hasn't been as good as we were expecting by now. We were expecting him to be able to go full by now. He wasn't able to, and that's why there is some concern."

There is some cause for concern along the offensive line. Veteran tackle Trent Williams left for the locker room after warmups due to back issues. If he cannot play against the Dolphins, Colton McKivitz is the likely next man up.

"He was having back spasms," head coach Kyle Shanahan said of Williams after practice. "... I'm not too concerned about it. I asked [offensive line coach] Chris [Foerster] if he was all right. He said, 'It's just big-guy problems.' [General manager and former NFL safety John] Lynch told me he used to get them sometimes.

"You usually have them on game day, and that's a big deal. So he had them today, spend the day resting and stuff, and expect him to be all right, but I hope that doesn't happen on Sunday."

The 49ers listed Williams as "questionable" for Sunday.

Running back Christian McCaffrey (knee irritation), guard Spencer Burford (ankle sprain), and defensive end Charles Omenihu (knee) all participated in their second consecutive practice after missing Wednesday's session. Burford and Omenihu are "questionable," while McCaffrey has been cleared to play.

Defensive tackle Arik Armstead, who on Thursday declared he would play against the Dolphins, has practiced all week. He, too, has been cleared to play after missing time due to foot and ankle injuries.
