New York improved its record to 8-5-1, while Washington dropped to 7-6-1, and the two teams swapped spots in the NFC playoff standings. The Giants now sit at the No. 6 spot. The Commanders are slated to own the seventh and final playoff spot. That means San Francisco would host New York, not Washington, if the season ended today.
Washington would travel to face the Vikings in Minnesota.
There are still three weeks worth of NFL games to be played, so a lot can still happen. San Francisco can only control what remains on its schedule. Next up for the Niners is a home game against the Commanders. After that, they will close out the season with a road game against the Las Vegas Raiders and then a home matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.
