Head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters on Wednesday and shared that the 49ers got the X-ray results.
"I don't expect to have him this week," Shanahan revealed.
Garoppolo sustained his injury on December 4. A return for the Super Bowl remains a possibility.
A new name was added to the 49ers' injury report. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel will not practice on Wednesday due to an ankle injury.
"It's been there for a little bit," Shanahan said. "I think he'll be all right, but it concerned us enough to not let him go today."
The wide receiver also expects to be ready for action this weekend in Philadelphia.
"It's just kind of sore," Samuel told reporters. "It's just [us] being pretty cautious, just trying to get ready for Sunday."
Others who are not expected to practice on Wednesday are running backs Christian McCaffrey (calf) and Elijah Mitchell (groin).
