Lynn joined head coach Kyle Shanahan's staff last year. Before that, he served as the offensive coordinator with the Detroit Lions. Lynn was the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers for four season (2017-20), and has served various roles with the Buffalo Bills, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Denver Broncos.
Recently, Lynn admitted that he was impressed with the culture the 49ers have built in Santa Clara.
"This organization will do whatever it takes to win," Lynn told the Los Angeles Times. "Resources out the [ears]. That was different for me compared to what I was going through in L.A. So it's just like, man, this is what it's supposed to be like. I forgot how that felt."
The 49ers are preparing to face the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.
